RELEASE: YUHA’S NIGHTMARES (NOVEMBER 10 2026)
Yuliya Kozhemyako’s experimental video game Yuha’s Nightmares. Episode One: Catastrophe will launch on Steam on November 10, 2026, following more than six years of development. Previously featured on GameScenes in August 2025, the project transforms the artist’s recurring dreams into a first-person psychological adventure where unstable architecture and digital glitches reproduce the disorienting logic of nightmares.

The first episode, Catastrophe, comprises more than twenty interconnected dream levels exploring displacement, the loss of home and the persistence of memory. In a recent development update, Kozhemyako describes the game as a personal time capsule containing digital reconstructions of actual locations, some of which have since disappeared. Created in collaboration with composer and sound designer Helga Luzhnikova, its soundscape incorporates field recordings captured in the places that inspired the virtual environments. One particularly unusual sequence asks players to locate a missing cat, Tunis, among a hundred animals whose voices were contributed by the game's community.

Expected to take approximately two hours to complete, Catastrophe is a self-contained experience, with subsequent episodes planned around different themes. Its exploration of memory acquires particular poignancy through the correspondence between disappearing physical places and their continued existence as navigable digital spaces.
A free demo is currently available on Steam, where the full game can also be wishlisted.
