Game Art: Mr. Talion's "Tribute to Doom" (2009)

Several German street artists have "hacked" and "modded" existing billboards in Berlin, turning them into a static version of Doom. Talking about "total conversion"... Adopting the same tactics used by culture jammers, artists such as Baveux, Kone, Epoxy and, above all, Mr. Talion have pasted elements of Doom - from the HUD to the pervasive guns - to unsuspecting ads. The result is both hilarious and revealing. Elements of John Carpenter's They Live are clearly recognizable here (unsurprisingly, Carpenter's masterpiece has inspired another project by Mr. Talion). Source: Nerdcore (in German)Link: Flickr photoset by Mr. Talion
