Game Art: Jason Nelson's "Nomencluster" (2015)

Jason Nelson'

s an interactive digital artwork and poem generator that explores the space as a visual, creative play environment. Instead of drawing with lines, Nomencluster allows the visitor to create her or his own designs with insects, 19th century engineering engravings, food chemistry, and a stream of poetic texts and interactive writing. This amazing installation is currently on view at QUT - The Cube, in Brisbane, Australia, which consists of 48 multi-touch screens soaring across two storeys. A Digital Writer in Residence at The Cube, Nelson developed the project in collaboration with Matthew Horton. Born in Oklahoma, Nelson creates quirky digital poems and net-artworks of odd lives, building confounding art games and all manner of curious digital creatures. Nelson also teaches Net Art and Electronic Literature at Griffith University.
