Game Art: Gustavo Argüello Peñaloza's "Hola Mundo" (2012)
Gustavo Argüello Peñaloza is a young Mexican artist whose pratice - sculpture - focuses on the intersection between videogames and the Fine Arts. His portfolio includes "Hola Mondu/Hello World" (below), a set of hands holding controllers of a console made of cardboard.
Argüello Peñaloza is both fascinated and obsessed with fingers. This makes perfect sense consider that we live in the digital age, right? After all, in Latin digit means both number (=computation) but also finger. Here's another example. Argüello Peñaloza is literally pointing the finger at the real protagonist of Contemporary Art.
