Game Art: READY>RUN (Sept 19 - Nov 7 2009, Philadelphia)

Readyrun"
The Klein Art Gallery at the Science Center will present READY>RUN, an exhibition of artworks created using vintage video game hardware like Nintendo, Gameboy, Atari, and Commodore 64. The exhibition runs from September 19th through November 7th 2009, with an opening reception on Saturday, September 19th from 5pm to 8pm at the Klein Art Gallery. Followed by 8Static Chip Music Party at Studio 34 From 8pm - 11pm.

READY>RUN exhibition explores 'Chiptune' or Chip music culture. A general term for original music and visual art created by using early video game hardware like the Nintendo Entertainment System, Nintendo Gameboy, Atari, and Commodore 64. Chip musicians and pixel artists work within the limitations of these vintage technologies by hacking their childhood toys to generate complex new genres of music and visual art that challenge and reflect the identity of contemporary art on an international level. There are now vibrant underground Chip music scenes in Japan, Europe, New York, and Philadelphia.

8Static is a Philadelphia's Chip music show organized by The Hacktory. 8static takes place at Studio34, 4522 Baltimore Ave., Philadelphia, PA. (SEPTA's No. 34 trolley line)
