Game Art: Michael Allison's "Shamanic Prosthesis - experiment 1" (2013)
Michael Allison's new project is titled Shamanic Prosthesis - experiment 1 and uses virtual reality (Oculus Rift programmed in cinder), Microsoft Kinect, video, and audio processing effects "to induce a trance-like state in the user and enable introspection and contemplation of a possible spiritual connection to computation." (Allison) Specifically, Allison was designed as "an artificial bridge that connects me to the user in an intimate setting. Drawing heavily on the shamanic tradition, this work explores my attempt to connect with a culture and practice that I cannot really understand on a spiritual level." (Allison). We are looking forward to the next experiments.
From the same author: DOMAIN (2013), a "Mass Multiplayer game that uses smart phone location services to enable city-wide game play".
