Remap
"Remap Berlin introduces a series of b&w photographs shot in the virtual world Twinity, a mirror world that reproduces a realistic 3D replica of Berlin. The photos shot in Twinity, are then geo localized in google maps, re-mapped from virtual to real, positioned in the corresponding point where they has been shot in the mirror world.
Remap Berlin deals with different levels of reality. The photos, uploaded in the photo sharing community of Panoramio, are mixed and confused with other photographs shooted in the same geographical point from real life users. Many of these photos were selected by Google for Google Earth and by this became little geographical virus. They are cityscape, shot by Marco Manray roaming around in the still empty streets of Berlin of the Twinity beta version. This piece is the new step of his journey around the metaverse, after Second Life and the chinese virtual world HIPIHI. The exploration touches the city edges, where streets end on the boundary line between land and sky, like in the medieval imaginary. They are temporary borders of an expanding universe." (Marco Manray aka Marco Cadioli)
