"Taliban Hands" is the title of Joseph Delappe's latest sculpture project. Depicted above are the 3D prints of the polygonal sculptures that he produced last year. As Delappe's explain on his website, these are

"[T]he  hands of a Taliban fighter, as depicted in the controversial Medal of Honor (Electronic Arts) shooter game. These sculptures were created through a complex process of 3D data extraction from the game for physical construction adapting Pepakura Designer for use with white corrugated plastic."

Delappe created these artworks while on residency in China in 2011 for a show at the Where Where Exhibition Space, Beijing. This reminds me of one of my all-time-favorite Game Artworks, Jean-Paul Bichard's "Severed Hand" (2007), although texts and contexts are significantly different.

A farewell to virtual arms?
