Game Art: Jairo Gutiérrez' "The Infinite Walk" (2012)
The Infinite Walk,
is about individuality and collective agency, indoctrination, and normative behavior. Although completely unrelated, this work reminds me of Baden Pailthorpe's outstanding Formation series."A default avatar stand in an empty black space. Through a gamepad is possible to walk in the vacuum. As soon as we walk in any direction, the character begins to dupicate itself and the scene turns into an abstract illusion, like in a sequential arrangement of mirror images. The duplicated images disappear when the player walks back the same route and gets to the starting point. This walk can be understand as a metaphor about the formation of a group, a multitude, an identity, and the position of individuality amid of the mass." (Jairo Gutierrez)LINK
