Game Art: Federico Solmi's The Great Farce redux (August 1st - September 30th, 2018, Los Angeles)

Federico Solmi's THE GREAT FARCE (2017) has been re-edited as a series of site-specific digital films specially commissioned by the City of West Hollywood for the months of August and September 2018. The work, which depicts Trump's America as a carnivalesque delirium, was originally presented as a 9-channel installation at the 2017 Frankfurt B3 Biennial of the Moving Image. Federico Solmi’s excerpts from THE GREAT FARCE airs at the top of each hour on the two screens at 8410 Sunset Boulevard and once every 10 minutes on the screens at 9039 Sunset Blvd. from 5am until 3am, from August 1st till September 30th, 2018. The project is presented by If Innovation Foundation and curator Jessica Rich in partnership with the City of West Hollywood. Like most of Solmi's audiovisual works, THE GREAT FARCE was originally developed using game engines, original drawings, and digital technology.

I can't think of a better artwork to depict contemporary America than THE GREAT FARCE.
