Game Art Around The Web

Isabelle Arvers: Games as colors on canvas (personal blog):
In the footsteps of machinima making, games can be perceived as a medium and as a raw material for artists to create hybrids artworks from stop motion, video art, experimental cinema, installations and interactive artworks. Thanks to machinima techniques and editing software, games can be mixed to each other and transformed into colors in order to produce a Mash Up, and a totally new original artwork. (Isabelle Arvers)
Zachary Kaplan: A hardware-based restoration of the 'first art videogame'

(Rhizome):

Mike Builds a Shelter, [is] a 1983 videogame by artist Mike Smith, computer graphics designe
Dov Jacobson, and programmer Reza Keshavarz. One was a touched-up original Commodore 64 (C

64) plugged into a small CRT TV and connected to a coin door and a joystick. (Zachary Kaplan)

Nicholas O'Brien on Tale of Tales' decision to stop playing (Rhizome):
Though it pains me to say it, the fact that Sunset didn’t financially live up to expectations is something of a testament to the immaturity of the videogame ecosystem. Where other successful titles have certainly broached complex, serious, and emotionally mature material, few have tackled the fraught political territory that is laid bare by Sunset. Its financial failure suggests that the online market alone can't support this kind of work. (Nicholas O'Brien)
Jonathan B.on Iam8bit 10th anniversary (Things to Do in Los Angeles):
And many guests did stop and play it after they walked and talked through Jon's gallery. I ask about his favorite pieces from over the years. He brings up Jason Torchinky's giant workable Atari controller. "That was kind of an elevation movement where we realized part of it wasn't just about the art on the walls, but the evening and tangibility of it. So we strive to have something that's tactile in everything we do..., " Jon said.
Tobias Rehberger.

The artwork is titled 1661-1910 From Nagasaki, Meiji, Setti, currently on display at artBasel (Beyeler Foundation). That's 26 x 4 meters of obscene pixel art.
