EVENT: CÉLIA CAROUBI (JULY 10–23, 2026)
Playground
digital video/machinima, color, sound, 10 min 23 sec, 2023, France
Created by Célia Caroubi
Introduced by Matteo Bittanti
Playground is a desktop documentary filmed inside Roblox. Célia Caroubi joins her twelve-year-old sister Anna for a remote play session that turns uneasy when another player, “Alex”, proposes Truth or Dare. As the exchange becomes increasingly insistent, Caroubi’s position shifts between participation, observation, and care. The film treats Roblox as a documentary space where childhood play, online exposure, gendered pressure, and familial protection collide without ever resolving into a simple moral lesson.
