Art Game: Aimei Kutt's "Sonata" (2012)

Brown University's senior student Aimei Kutt's Sonata looks (and sounds) like a creative remake of Rez, but it's actually created from scratch in Java and OpenGL. This project was developed for a course titled 2D Game Engines in collaboration with Parker Porfilio. As Events in the game are timed to classical music. As Kutt writes, Sonata features "Voronoi shattering, swarming behavior with boids, fractal trees, broad-phase pruning for collision detection, collision groups, parallax, particle systems, sprite animation, smooth transitions and camera". Aimei is majoring in computer science and physics.
