Devant l'appareil enregistreur (Before the recording device

) is the title of Nicolas Tilly's latest performance focusing on facial architecture, motion scanning, simulation, and art as byproducts of digital gaming. For this project, the artist is wearing a paper mask made of 240 triangles while facing the crowd. Behind him, a scene from Rockstar Games' LA Noire plays on the screen. On June 28 2013, Tilly performed Devant l'appareil enregistreur at the Laboratoires d'Aubervilliers. The full performance can be seen here. This project is part of his broader research on "Scripture-gaming". As Tilly explains on his website:"[Since 2006] I have been questioning the video game by the basis of writing in a leading editorial project by the name of Scripture-gaming . Initially a simple blog, this project now takes the form of a journal-application that mixes visual design, writing and video to tablets and smartphones."
