"my print for Gallery1988’s ‘multiplayer’ show is “I’m alone there now, in our special place, waiting for you.”, a tribute to the Silent Hill series. I played the first one a few years after it came out, 2002 perhaps, via a recommendation from my brother, with my friend Cait over two nights, lights off and terrified, ta…king turns manning the controller and hiding behind the couch. I’d played ’survival horror’ games before, resident evil and the like, but not ’small town horror’, which is something that struck me much much worse. my brother claimed there were times he was playing it where he would be facing a door unexplored, would throw down the controller, and shout “im not going in there! im done!”. whatever designer decided that your character should only be able to see 5 feet in front of them, but hear 50 feet, was a genius. Kristy and I are currently playing through Silent Hill 3, and i think shes a bit braver than me." (Daniel Danger)
