Art Game: Nick Lally's "Bikes Invade Space" (2012)

Share

Oakland-based artist and professor Nick Lally created "Bikes Inavde Space" in 2002 as part of a collaboration with Kyle McKinley. The game was presented at the 2011 Maker Faire in San Mateo, May 21-22 and it is simply brilliant. In 2010, Lally hacked Taito's classic arcade for another project, Space Invaders. This version features an aural interface. As Lally explains on his website, "A low-pitched hum moves your spaceship left, a high-pitched hum moves it right and yelling makes it fire."
