Art Game: Eddo Stern's "Still Life With Putin (with Cyril Kuhn)", (2014)
This new short video of Eddo Stern's game Still Life with Putin (2014) shows the control interface.
Developed in collaboration with artist Cyril Kuhn (b. 1970 in Zurich, member of the artist-run cooperative c-level from 2001-2004), Still Life with Putin puts the player in the Russian president's spinning head. Using a joypad, the player can spin right or left in, hitting/avoiding a series of artifacts, including an AK 47, a statue of a dog, a statue of a shirtless Putin, a contortionist, and other presidential paraphernalia. According to
Beall Center for Arts, Still Life with Putin is "a literal/humorous interpretation of portraiture and the notion of role playing" which explores "an expressionistic/eclectic aesthetic." The game is both heady and fun.
