For the past 3 and a half years, Carlos Martorell has been scanning vegetation and terrain models around the world, from botanic gardens to backyards, beaches, natural spaces to create a special kind of collage with Unity 3D, possibly the most popular tool for game development. The outcome is Ecosystems, New life forms in virtual terrariums. As Martorell explains, "I simply wanted to experiment aesthetically with the juxtaposition of the models to create these terrariums, while I kept this kind of not-hi res/CGI/game-y appearance."
Carlos Martorell is a sonic and visual artist who works with sound and later expanded his arsenal to include Unity. He usually uses Unity 3D for his live sound reacting visuals. During the pandemic, he also released a couple of short albums, titled IX and IX2 under the moniker of SHOEG, experimenting with silences, negative spaces and resonances.
