Peter Is Back: A Machine-Performance is a one-hour piece places me in dialogue with an artificially intelligent avatar, inspired by Franz Kafka’s 1917 short story A Report to an Academy—in which a monkey recounts his transformation into a human being. Throughout the show, unexpected dynamics of control and freedom unfold between the aryist the machine, and the audience—moments that speak directly to the anxieties and possibilities of our time.
