The Game Arts International Assembly (GAIA) is an event that creates space for people in the game arts organizing, production and curation community to discuss their challenges and share information.
The first GAIA took place in Buenos Aires (Argentina) in November 2019 with 25 participants from around the world within the umbrella of Game on! El arte en juego. During the COVID-19 Pandemic we ran GAIA Online edition over 2 months with over 300 attendees and 30 speakers from 5 continents. The third edition was held in Toronto (Canada) with 26 participants during Toronto Games Week. GAIA Online also ran in September 2024 with 11 session and 31 speakers. Now we are opening the call for our 5th edition to be held in September 2025 in Barcelona (Spain).
We welcome established and emergent ludic cultural producers & curators, community organizers, art curators and museum professionals, streamers, critics, academics and all professionals who are working, or intend to work, with videogames as cultural objects.
TRAVELLING AND ACCOMMODATION: GAIA cannot provide direct funding, but it will attempt to connect all selected participants with embassies and cultural institutions so they can apply to them for support.
TICKETS: once again GAIA will present 3 ticket categories with the intention to fund the participation of underrepresented groups and regions.
