Tracy Harwood & Tony Garry's new work is a critical examination of design fiction and futurity through machinima. Walker Family: Health & Wellbeing, Circa 2020 examines the role of technology in an hyper-connected world, also known as the Internet of Things (IoT), from the point of view of the members of the family. The series is part of a research undertaken by Harwood and Garry into behavioural responses to the IoT, conducted at the Institute of Creative Technologies, De Montfort University, Leicester, UK.
This short film below epicts the Walker family managing their lives at home in 2020.
And here is Jane's story.
And this is about getting about in the near future...
Harwood has written several essays and articles on machinima and has spoken in panels and conferences, including "Machinima: Investigating Cultural Values project", as part of the Arts & Humanities Research Council Cultural Values project at De Montfort University in 2014. This is a terrific conversation.
