Aram Bartholl's seminal piece Dust (2004) has been installed at Winter prison in Sherbrooke, Quebec, as part of the show Espace[IM]media co-curated by Jean-Pierre Aubé, François Quévillon, Philippe-Aubert Gauthier, and Sébastien Pesot. As an in-site installation, Dust Excerpt 1 features 20 pixellated crates of different sizes (up to 2 m/6 feet high) from Counter-Strike's dust map. As Bartholl writes on his blog, "Setting up interactions between the architecture and history of worlds with distinct realities, the installation examines the different codes and forms of behaviour we adopt in « real life » and in virtual environments, as well as how these spaces are inscribed in the collective memory".
