"The M2F creations association has the pleasure to invite you to the inauguration of the sixth edition of the festival of contemporary art GAMERZ of Aix-en-Provence.
From 3rd to 19th December, the sixth edition of the GAMERZ festival transforms the city of Aix-en-Provence into a huge playground. More than 85 international artists exhibit their work through 1500 square meters in 8 different cultural places in town.
Devoted to game and diversion in contemporary creation, GAMERZ yearly gathers french and international artists, researchers and professionals in Aix-en-Provence. Coming from various european networks, they all join the festival in order to share practical and theoretical views. Exploring the borders between art and new technologies, the programme is particularly rich and innovating, including exhibitions, performances, workshops, conferences and professional meetings.
For the very first time, GAMERZ also presents pieces realized in the frame of the new residency programme carried out of before the festival at La Maison Numérique. The installations exhibited show a peculiar use of state-of-the-art technologies in robotics and telecoms.
GAMERZ also settles at the Art School of Aix-en-Provence for a wild cycle of conferences and debates. The lecturers and guests will take stock of the notion of game through art history, by exploring transverse and contemporary subjects such as: new urban actionist practices, alternative uses of“game-engine”, ICT plunder by artists or social criticism of the military industrial entertainment complex.
GAMERZ livens the city up with a unique cultural tour in which interactivity and new technologies meet contemporary art. The public is teleported at the heart of new forms of expression. A burst of diverted popular culture promoting free access to contemporary art for all!
