Isla Hansen's latest project is titled Demolition One and it's a virtual pinata game in which players are invited to destroy a pitch black cadillac limo - i.e. the vehicle used by the 45th - by interacting with a plush physical toy version of the car. This video shows the installation at the Columbus Museum of Art in January, 2017 It's remarkable how Americans are using games and art - among other things - to cope with the ongoing insanity. In a sense, Demolition One is a giant stress toy.
Isla Hansen was born in 1987 in Philadelphia. Her work reenacts forms of popular media, play, and systems of production, recreating ways in which bodies connect to technologies in the world around us, setting in motion new and sometimes crude means of image-making in order to break down or convolute processes of technological mediation. In 2015, she received her MFA from Carnegie Mellon University.
